My Favorite Things: February 2015

my-favorite-things

I decided to join the “My Favorite Things” link-up this month, so go check it out! Here are things I’ve been loving the past month 🙂

Homemade Curry

Maybe it’s because of the colder weather, but my husband and I have been addicted to making curry at home lately. Well, my husband does most of the cooking really. I help with some of the prep and then get to enjoy the results 😉 We’ve made Japanese curry multiple times and started making Thai curries too. The last one we made was Panang curry, and we will be trying yellow curry and massaman curry next!

Project 52

I’ve thought about starting a Project 52 many times in the past, and I’ve decided that 2015 is the year to do it! Basically, I take a photo every week.

Why a project 52 instead of a project 365? Well, I’ve actually completed a project 365 in the past. Not only that, I almost did it twice. If you look at my tumblr archive, I started a project 365 in September 2009, successfully completed it in 2010, and then kept going until July 2011!

Completed on 09/28/2010. Started a new one on 09/29/2010.

Completed on 09/28/2010! This is the first photo of the second 365.

From that, I learned that I treat a project 365 as a fun way to catalog my life. Not all of the photos are particularly interesting, and some were lazy ones that I took just to complete the day. Plus, I started it before Instagram was around, and now I use my Instagram in a similar way as the project 365.

What I want is a photography challenge, so I’m going to try and be more creative about it. A project 52 would give me more time to put thought into each photo, instead of churning out something daily. It’s been a month since I started, and here’s the progress!

Year in review: 2014

Time for another annual year in review! Here’s how 2014 was for me 🙂

Life in general

Like last year, my life has been very stable and doesn’t change much. Same job, same husband, same house, etc etc. Not much to report here 😉 At work, I’m still a team lead and in a senior position. My team has grown though, so I have more people to manage.

Hobbies

In 2014, I continued my photography focus on cosplay photoshoots. I’m now able to fill all of my spots early on, with most of them taken by repeat clients. I did photoshoots at 2 conventions and also a private one in town. I’m happy with where this has gone 🙂

I’ve also been asked to help out the photography team at work more. I worked on the photography team for our biggest event (our user conference) and filled in here and there throughout the year.

When it comes to cosplay, I remade one of my costumes and made 4 new ones. Though, of the 4 new ones… only one of them was for me XD;; My two major cosplays were our Spirited Away group which we wore at A-kon (I made all 3 costumes) and my Rhyme cosplay which I wore in Japan.

As for gaming, well, I dedicated a whole entry to it already 🙂
