Happy Halloween

As the title says, Happy Halloween! I’ll admit that I wasn’t always excited for Halloween, but that changed after I started cosplaying. It gave me another event to make a costume for, and I can take advantage of the Halloween sales at fabric and craft stores. Plus, when people ask me what I’m making, I can say it’s for a costume without feeling weird about it. Wins all around!

And that’s the reason why I took a short break from blogging and blog hopping. I was working on my costume! I saw that my work’s party and my friend’s party were the Friday and Saturday before Halloween, and I realized I miscalculated and had one less weekend than I originally thought. I went into cram mode to finish it up.

If you’ve been following me on social media, you already know what I went as. I’m my trainer in Pokemon Go!

My Favorite Things: September 2016

Before getting back to my Japan entries, I wanted to do this month’s My Favorite Things hosted by Raisa and Eirene! I’ve been watching and playing a few new things recently that I wanted to share 😀

Show: Young Justice

Growing up, I loved watching the old Batman animated series on TV, and I haven’t really followed a super hero cartoon since then. A couple coworkers highly recommended Young Justice, and since it was on Netflix, I gave it a try. I’m really liking it! It features Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, and Artemis, and it’s nice to see characters who are typically sidekicks as the stars of the show. I’m still in first season, and I’ve been told second season is even better, so I can’t wait to watch more!

Game Recommends – Couch games

Making a console PC to play multiplayer PC games on the TV is one of the best decisions my husband and I made this year. We’ve had several game days with friends, and it’s been a ton of fun to have them over. Online is great for convenience and for playing with people who don’t live near you, but it’s definitely missing the type of interactions that you get when playing together in person.

We’ve been keeping an eye out for multiplayer games that would make great “couch games” and have tried many of them out. These are our 5 favorites so far!

SpeedRunners

(Up to 4 players | Steam page)

You know how there’s always that one jerk who runs ahead in Mario levels and kills everyone by leaving them behind? Well, that’s the point of SpeedRunners. You run through a course filled with obstacles and items, and you win if you leave people behind enough that they hit the edge of the screen. Thanks to the game’s fast pace, it’s also really fun to spectate while you’re waiting for a turn.

The great part of this game is that people seem to get the hang of it quickly, and being in front isn’t all that easy. The person in the lead is near the front edge of the screen and cannot see the obstacles ahead. It gives people in the back a chance to catch up, and we’ve had a lot of really close matches because of it!
